POLISH CUP
IDSF INTERNATIONAL OPEN LATIN
IDSF OPEN STANDARD

The organizers' skillful activities allowed to attain many important sponsors like; Polish Airlines LOT, PTT Mazovian region, Glass Foundry Ladna, companies: ENCO, HONEYWELL, HAWELKA, DC SYSTEM, MadMax, SUPADANCE and Super Dance Magazin. I hope the editor of Super Dance Magazin, Sebastian Lisiak, will not mind my attention to his sponsoring debut. The magazine will soon appear on sale. It is going to be a coulorful magazine devoted to various forms of dance in Poland and around the world. The first issue is going to appear during the World Championships in Bydgoszcz. It is worth recommending "Super Dance Magazine" now.

The main attraction of the two-day-long competition was supposed to be the tournament of IDSF Open Standard and IDSF International Open Latin. Many judges accepted the invitation to evaluate the dancers in this international event. Hubert De Maesschalck - Belgium, Olga Cacciari - Italia, Aigars Svars - Latvia, Peter Mangelsdorff - Germany, Aleksandr Kozyra - Belorus, Jurate Norvaisha - Lithuania, Swietlana Gozun - Moldova, Colin James - England, Sviatoslaw Wloch - Ukraine, Igor Jagersky - Slovakia, John Tan - Singapore, Svietlana Verbytska - Switzerland, Sergiej Martynienko - Russia, Alla Matiusenko - Latvia, Andrzej Mierzwa - Poland, Antoni Czyżyk - Poland, Iwona Pavlović - Poland, Robert Wota - Poland, Włodzimierz Smirnow - Poland, Mikołaj Pożarski -Poland, Paweł De Pourbaix - Poland, Waldemar Ziomek - Poland, Franciszek Witos - Poland, Antoni Grycmacher - Poland, David Burtov - Ukraine

This numerous and multinational crew of judges had a task of evaluating 62 pairs in IDSF Latin and just as many pairs in Standard. So, you could score a lot of points for the IDSF standing, and so it was.

Colin James - Anglia    Iwona Pavlović - Polska

Olga Cacciari - Włochy     John Tan - Singapur

On Saturday morning we watched the children's competition (9 and younger and then 12 years old) in both categories. In the afternoon we witnessed IDSF Standard.
Since the very morning we could anticipate all sorts of problems. First of all, the temperature outside was around 27 degrees and inside it was even hotter. The number of pairs plus the number of viewers greatly exceeded the organizers' expectations. I admired Marek Chojnacki who efficiently fulfilled his duties both as the chairman of the tournament and the host of the event. I always watch with pleasure "Contry" parents' engagement during such events. When I managed to ask Mark how he had been able to make parents involve in helping him, I heard: "You know... both they - parents and I know that without their help nothing would come out ...". I did not ask any more questions.

Going back to the dance floors. Already in the first rounds we could notice two handsome pairs from Italy: Paolo Bosco with Sylvia Piton and Isala Berardi with Cinzia Birarelli.

Our silver medalist Andrzej Sadecki with Karina Nawrot had to accept their supremacy.
Personalny, being the admirer of the dance "for the audience", I watched a pair from Szczecin with great pleasure. They were Marcin Kalitowski and Kamila Domanska who were fifth.

Summer weather stays with us till late evening. This is the end of the first day. We come back home sweaty. Only the organizers stay. We say goodbye to the tired "Contra" with "organizer" badges on their chests. It is going to be another sleepless night for them. Tomorrow is another day of the tournament and everything has to be OK.
